Description:
WHO WE ARE
Academic and Business Performance Analytics (ABPA) collects and submits data to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), and many ranking surveys such as U.S. News, Kiplinger’s, Peterson’s, and Barron’s. ABPA also provides student, course and faculty data through various reports and online data dashboards for the university administration and other stakeholders.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three years of related experience in statistical modeling and other advanced statistical techniques.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Statistical and data modeling.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Business intelligence and statistical software.
- Data Visualization.
- Analyzing and Identifying trends.
- Analytical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working in higher education.
- Basic SQL skills and SQL Server experience. Tableau Desktop and Server.
Responsibilities:
- Statistical Analysis and Development - Perform data analysis using modeling methods to guide decision-making that promote strategies towards student success. Develop and implement statistical models that highlight key insights in areas such as capacity, student experience and other studies that will be used to make well-informed decisions to support student success. Perform descriptive analysis on existing datasets to identify patterns or correlations. Assist with efforts to track, evaluate, and report on impact of programs using multiple data sources.
- Data Prep & Visualization - Work with various data sets, mostly involving snapshot data of student, degree and course data. Performing some ETL processes to prepare the data for visualization. Working with excel data requiring extensive data cleaning. Developing strategies to best prepare the data for visualization. Improve upon existing processes to prepare the data efficiently, accurately and in a timely manner.
- Planning and Communication - Work with stakeholders to gather information and requirements to create targeted visualizations as requested. Collaborate with colleagues across departments to attain the necessary data to complete projects. Schedule routine meeting to discuss project progress. Work with internal teams to understand business needs and changing strategies.
- Reporting - Completing surveys from external requestors using our warehouse data and building spreadsheet reports to fulfill ad-hoc requests.
- Other Duties - Performs other duties as assigned and which may include but are not limited to the following: Collaboration with other team members on special projects, assignment and participation in university committees, attending University community meetings as required.
