JOB SUMMARY

The Sheriff’s Office provides public safety at all times and therefore every position is deemed essential. All positions are in-person and not eligible for remote work. Every position is also subject to recall based on the needs of the Office to keep the community safe. This position has an anticipated work schedule of Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm, subject to change. Under FLSA guidelines, this position is non-exempt.

Inventories, orders, stores, and stocks all health, comfort, cleaning, and operational supplies necessary for the continued operation of the Sheriff’s Office Detention Facilities, without interruption of services. Coordinates shipments and deliveries between facilities and vendors and maintains daily service-related relationships with local and out-of-state suppliers. Trains, monitors, and supervises inmate workers who assist in the receiving of inventory and delivery of supplies throughout the detention facilities, as well as in the performance of light manual labor in and around the main detention facility (CJC).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Must be honest, truthful, trustworthy and possess a high degree of personal integrity.
- Ability to use standard office equipment, including telephone, computer, fax Machine, calculator, and copier.
- Ability to use hand trucks, wheeled carts, and screen print equipment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and vendors.
- Ability to maintain the security of sensitive and confidential information.
- Must be detail oriented and ensure accuracy in work.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Minimum two years inventory and/or purchasing experience.
- Any equivalent combination of related education and work experience that satisfy the requirements of the job will be considered.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, truth verification examination, motor vehicle record check, drug screen, and physical examination.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains adequate inventory of all items used in detention facilities. Enters data into computer and physically inventories supplies on a regular basis.
- Supervises inmate workers performing assigned tasks.
- Researches items to be purchased and provides cost estimates and recommendations for purchase or cost savings opportunities. Coordinates shipping and receiving.
- Coordinates distribution of supplies to facilities, including driving supplies to facilities, and ensures facilities receive adequate amounts of supplies.
- Coordinates repair of damaged equipment and returns equipment to facility.
- Prepares reports reflecting current inventories, historical and projected usage, and recent expenditures.
- Tracks and manages multiple budgets and open Purchase Orders (PO’s) to ensure financial responsibility and fiscal needs are met.
- Assists with movement and transport of office furniture, equipment, and other difficult items within, to and from County Facilities or local providers.
- Performs other duties as required.
