We’re looking for an experienced System Engineer who will contribute to our success by bringing the needed technical expertise to develop innovative drive units for eBikes at Johnson Electric in Dresden (Germany).
It contains the coordination of the product development process, starting with the design of the drive units, continuing through various building and testing of prototypes right up to the finished certified product. The requirements for an eBike motor encompass multiple physical domains and require a complex understanding of the system and application.

Responsibilities:

  • Development, simulation and design of eBike drive unit from the idea to the start of production
  • Leading eBike system development together with the project manager by coordinating all engineering activities.
  • Analysis of specifications and customer requirements, deriving internal specifications, making tolerance and risk assessments
  • Run multiphysics simulation models to support product development while taking product and manufacturing costs into account
  • Coordinate testing of prototypes, creation of suitable testing plans and analysis of testing results
  • Independent and responsible work with suppliers and development partners
  • Being up-to-date with eBike innovations and products
  • Report engineering status to project manager and top management

Your profile and experience:

  • University degree in mechatronics, drive engineering, mechanical engineering, precision engineering or similar course of studies
  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical problems
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience with 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks and SolidEdge, including the creation of 3D parts, assemblies and associated drawings / PLM systems
  • Experience with multiphysics simulation tools, ideally Simplorer, SimulationX and Matlab Simulink
  • Experience with FE simulation tools, ideally Ansys Workbench
  • Fluency in English is a must have, additional fluent German skills are preferred
  • Ideally experience in mass production related product development, their transfer to production as well as the release of products according the standards
  • Structured, solution-oriented and pragmatic way of thinking and working
  • Creative and committed attitude, open communication, team-player
  • Openness and confident working in an intercultural environment
  • Willingness to travel regularly mostly to Zwickau
