Job Introduction This full time role has a starting salary of £40,296 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week. This is a 12-month fixed term contract opportunity which may be considered for extension, dependent on finance. The role may be suitable for pro rata part time working.
Surrey’s Local Resilience Forum (SLRF) is looking to recruit a new Training and Exercising Officer to join the SLRF Secretariat. The team is based in Woodhatch Place, Reigate, with occasional requirement to travel to other parts of Surrey. This is a hybrid role and a proportion can be undertaken remotely. On average 2 days are spent in the office each week but this is dependent on demand.
SLRF is a partnership of over 50 organisations who work together to plan and prepare for emergencies. This position is part of the Secretariat team which supports and coordinates the Partnership.

About the RoleSurrey’s Local Resilience Forum (SLRF) is seeking a driven individual with proven skills and experience to undertake the role of Training and Exercising Officer on behalf of the Partnership. Working as part of the SLRF Secretariat you will directly support the Training & Exercising and Debrief & Learning leads to deliver the objectives of their workstreams, in support of the SLRF Business Plan.
Working in a complex multi-agency environment you will lead on determining the training needs of the partnership and develop and deliver training, including on-line and classroom based, to help strengthen the Partnership’s and individuals’ skills and capabilities. Working with other workstream leads you will help develop and deliver the Partnership’s testing and exercising programme to ensure capabilities are in place to address ongoing and developing civil contingency risks.
You will organise and facilitate organisational and operational debriefs, producing subsequent reports to ensure learning is captured, recommendations are actioned and embedded and that the LRF continually improves. You will also help assess the recommendations and findings from relevant inquiries and bring these into the Partnership. As part of the SLRF Secretariat you will also support the wider coordination and administration of the Partnership as determined by the SLRF manager.
This is initially a 1-year post but may be extended once future funding arrangements are determined.

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
