JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, this position develops, delivers and manages an effective and consistent program of training for all Division employees, in the safe and effective operation of equipment and products used in the operations and maintenance of facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Possession of a valid Fourth Class Power Engineer Certificate.
  • Completion of a one year business related program
  • Successful completion of a recognized Train-the-Trainer program.
  • Four to six years’ related cleaning and maintenance experience, including three years of developing. coordinating and delivering training programs
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Possession of a valid, recognized first aid and CPR certificate.
  • Possession of ISSA: Custodial Supervisor and Custodial Technician training program certificates within 2 years of date of hire.
  • Possession of Transportation of Dangerous Goods Instructor certification within one year from date of hire.
  • Successful completion of Respirator Fit Tester Certification within 6 months of date of hire.
  • Possession of confined space, fall arrest, powered mobile equipment, aerial lift/platform certification and Electrical Safety for non - electrical workers training provided upon hire.
  • Knowledge of safety practices, policies, and WHMIS regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, coordinate and conduct training programs and evaluate the competency of participants
  • Considerable knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety legislation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Possession of a valid, Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
  • Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Shift work and weekend work may be involved
    Weekly Hours: 36.67
    Salary Range: $71,064.48 to $83,177.52 CAD per annum (2023 rates)

Responsibilities:

  • Develops, coordinates and maintains an effective Maintenance, Operations and Equipment training and audit program, including custodial operations and the formulation of long-term strategies and the implementation of training plans.
  • Supports and promotes a safe and positive workplace culture through a variety of initiatives and activities.
  • Supports and promotes the health and safety of employees in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations in addition to the City of Saskatoon’s Administrative Occupational Health & Safety Policies and departmental procedures.
  • Conducts classroom and field instruction, for Custodial operations and equipment in accordance with Divisional training requirements and Corporate Occupational Health and Safety Policy.
  • Develops training schedules and maintains a record of training sessions, participants and certification of all employees in the Division.
  • Develops implements and coordinates a training program for ongoing employee development.
  • Acts as liaison and coordinates the chemical and paper contracts to ensure consistency of products and services within the Division
  • Maintains records related to qualifications and recertification’s requirements and reports to ensure compliance with regulations under the national safety code and The Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations.
  • Researches, evaluates and makes recommendations regarding the use of external training resources.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
