JOB SUMMARY:

The Vice President of Human Resources will lead all HR functions across the organization. Reporting to the CFO and sitting on the Senior Leadership Team, this role involves implementing and evolving HR strategic plans, budgets, and programs to achieve organizational goals. This position requires a balance of leadership skills, day-to-day HR initiatives, and strategic thinking. Key responsibilities include managing labor relations and executing strategies in collaboration with the HR team and operational leaders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 12+ years of experience in Human Resources across union and non-union environments.
  • 5+ years of experience managing a human resources team.
  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Human Resources, Business, Commerce, or similar.
  • Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) or Executive (CHRE) preferred.
  • Proven success in implementing HR strategies using a metrics-driven approach.
  • Business experience in roles outside of the HR function is an asset.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Experience in managing HR budgets and M&A initiatives.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of employment law, including the Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code, Pay Equity Act, and other relevant legislation.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and evolve HR objectives, strategies, and programs aligning with organizational goals.
  • Develop and monitor HR policies, procedures, and KPIs, providing regular reports and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Provide strategic consulting on HR functions, including organizational design, labor relations, change management, culture, workforce planning, talent acquisition, engagement, and retention.
  • Manage the HR budget, ensuring effective utilization of financial resources.
  • Support succession planning, identifying and developing high-potential leaders.
  • Drive communication and sharing of HR best practices for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and manage diversity and inclusion strategies.
  • Support corporate M&A functions by leading change management efforts and aligning new employees, systems, and policies.
  • Administer HR policies and procedures, manage complex labor issues, and foster positive working relationships with unions and employees.
  • Mentor HR team members and establish strong business relationships with organizational leadership.
  • Address employee relations issues and support the HR team in managing employee questions, complaints, and performance.
  • Build a strong employer brand and talent acquisition model, manage full-cycle recruitment, and support onboarding processes.
  • Develop and implement performance management systems and employee recognition programs.
  • Provide training and continuous learning opportunities for employees.
  • Conduct regular compensation reviews and administer effective compensation, benefits, and pension programs.
  • Stay current on HR trends and regulations, liaising with external constituents as required.
