Climate KIC operates as a not-for-profit platform working through public-private partnership, wielding both public and private funding. Established in 2010 and headquartered in Amsterdam, we orchestrate a community of more than 150 organisations including large corporations and SMEs, municipal and regional governments, universities and research institutes, as well as non-governmental organisations and civil society actors.
Climate KIC leads the implementation of the European Union’s Mission on Climate Neutral and Smart Cities and the launch pilot of the Mission on Climate-Adaptation both with the objective of catalysing rapid and deep transformation on a large scale, creating the precedent and economic transition conditions for demonstration, learning, capacity building, fast followership and investment. Achieving the EU Cities Mission will mean avoided scope 1 and 2 emissions alone of an estimated 0.7GT CO2e between now and 2040.
Climate KIC has a Remote-First strategy, where colleagues work remotely from home based in one of the countries where we have a branch or employing entity (and can work out of local offices or co-working seats, where they exist). We meet at our local offices to exchange and connect and use online collaboration tools to work with each other and with our community. On occasion, we meet in person as teams, and once per year as an organisation.
As a mission-driven organisation dedicated to climate transformation, we consider the climate impact of our own actions, for example travel, catering, or IT equipment.

ABOUT YOU

To succeed in this role, you will be passionate and committed to the mission and the programme and friendly and approachable to different stakeholders. We are looking for a can-do, get-it-done-today action-oriented person who can help us manage efficiently and effectively our projects and programmes.

EXPERIENCE

• Demonstrated experience with project management, including experience in complex projects (€1m and higher), ideally in the public or private sector.
• Project Assistants would typically have 2-3 years of relevant prior experience, Project Manager at least 4 years.
• Hands-on experience in managing incubation or acceleration programmes, or relevant entrepreneurial experience, including working with business incubators, accelerators, or similar ecosystems; or experience with grant management
• Experience in organising and facilitating individual and group (virtual) events, with the ability to manage these autonomously.
• Proven ability to build and sustain effective partnerships with stakeholders across diverse geographies and sectors.
• Experience in digitalising project and administrative processes, including the use of modern digital tools for project management and workflows.
• Experience in growing communities of partners

SKILLS

• Strong project management skills, with proven ability to self-organise, manage time effectively, and prioritise a varied workload. Existing project management certifications (e.g., PMP, CAPM, PRINCE2 or similar) are a plus.
• Fluency in English is required. Fluency in French and/or Spanish (both oral and written) is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in facilitating discussions and working collaboratively with diverse teams.
• Experience working with collaborative IT applications such as Office365, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Salesforce CRM, AcceleratorApp, Miro, Zoom, Mentimeter, and Forms.
• Knowledge or experience in topics related to climate change, innovation, sustainability, or the circular economy is desirable but not essential.

ABOUT THE ROLE

To support several upcoming projects across different areas of our work, we are looking to build a pool of experienced Project Managers and Project Assistants. These roles will support the efficient, effective delivery of multi-faceted, international projects, working with a wide variety of stakeholders and project partners.

DEPENDING ON THE ROLE AND PROJECT, RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:

• Supporting and managing the planning, execution, and delivery of climate innovation programmes and projects.
• Coordinating and delivering activities such as virtual or in-person events, workshops, capacity-building sessions, and stakeholder meetings.
• Managing relationships with programme partners, delivery collaborators, and networks across multiple countries.
• Supporting the production and management of project resources, content, and reporting materials for funders, partners, and public audiences.
• Coordinating project finances, assisting with budget tracking, procurement processes, and financial reporting.
• Leading or supporting outreach and communication campaigns to raise the visibility of projects and engage relevant audiences.
• Managing administrative and logistical tasks, including documentation, data management, and event coordination.
• Contributing to project Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) activities and helping to generate insights for ongoing improvement.
• Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to refine project management practices and operational processes.
