Now hiring: Ignite Program: Prep Early Childhood Teacher Intern Employment Terms: Full-Time, 2 year contract Start date: August 2026 End date: June 2028 We are currently seeking a Prep Early Childhood Teacher Intern who will provide JK and SK classroom support, co-teaching, individual and small group instruction, as well as embedded specialist instruction in art, music and physical literacy.  They may also do supply coverage and will be responsible for Before School Program supervision and instruction.The Prep Primary Teacher Intern will also deliver curriculum and/or co curricular programming and related, assessment, reporting, and parent/student communication. A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teachers and young learners is essential. The UCC Ignite Teacher Intern Program supports the delivery of UCC’s mission and vision of providing transformational learning experiences for students.  The program expands UCC’s talent pipeline by attracting promising early career teachers and providing exceptional development opportunities.  Key Responsibilities and Tasks Curriculum/Co-Curricular Delivery * Lead and/or support JK/SK curriculum delivery and relevant subject-specific content in an age-appropriate and pedagogically sound manner; * Lead integration of JK and SK Specialist instruction in music, art and physical literacy; * Lead and/or support co-curricular experiences in athletics, arts, or clubs; * Collect evidence of learning and prepare visible documentation of student work; * Write personalized report/co curricular comments as required; * Assist with parent-teacher & student-led conferences, parent information evenings, special events, etc; * Fully participate in the Norval outdoor education program. Support Student Learning * Provide individual, small group, and whole class instruction to support student learning as directed; * Address student social-emotional needs and promote a positive classroom environment; * Collaboratively plan with teachers to ensure effective instruction and learning experiences; * Assist with operational tasks such as offering feedback  marking, preparing materials, and organizing classroom resources. Classroom Management and Administrative Support * Contribute to classroom management and support with discipline as needed; * Perform supervisory duties during break times and transitions; * Provide coverage for classroom teachers when they are absent; * Assist with organizing and supervising field trips; * Support teachers in conducting parent-teacher conferences and student-led conferences; * Assist with parent information evenings, special events, and other school activities. Collaborative Engagement and Professional Development * Participate in faculty and team meetings, assemblies, and professional development opportunities; * Coach athletics and/or lead co-curricular arts, activities, or clubs.
