With guidance from the Laboratory Technician, perform routine laboratory support tasks including recording and preparing dosimeter badges, preparing materials for radiation measurement, checking and reporting radiation meter readings, and other related activities.
Functions / Key Results Expected
Prepare approximately 1000 dosimeter badges each month and make available for staff to collect.
Carry out the readings of returned dosimeter badges and inform other staff of readings above a specified level.
Maintain log of returned dosimeters in logbook.
Carry out routine functions for Electronic Personal Dosimeters (EPDs), e.g. issuance, replacement of batteries, lanyards, and clips on EPDs, placing in pigeonholes, etc.
The incumbent may perform his/her work in areas involving exposure to radioactive materials. Therefore, as an Occupationally Exposed Worker, he/she must be medically cleared by VIC Medical Service and is subject to an appropriate radiation and health monitoring programme, in accordance with the IAEA’s Radiation Safety Regulations.
Qualifications, Experience and Language skills
High School Diploma - Completed secondary education.
Ability to pay attention to detail and perform work according to quality standards.
Excellent oral and written command of English. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.
Remuneration
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at EUR 30053 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), 6 weeks’ annual vacation, pension plan and health insurance
Appointment is subject to a satisfactory medical report. Recruitment will be on a LOCAL BASIS only. Outside applicants are required to supply to the IAEA or to authorize it to seek all information relevant to their suitability for employment by the IAEA.
