Job Description
The Department of Geosciences at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a full-time Research Associate position in stratigraphy and sedimentary rocks. The successful candidate will receive a five-month appointment. The selected candidate will contribute to an ongoing research project focused on micro-lithofacies, sedimentological analysis, and sequence stratigraphy with the objective of developing a paleo-environmental model for a specific geologic period (Paleogene) within the UAE. The key responsibilities include: Conducting geological fieldwork and updates the geologic map of the study area. Performing laboratory analyses, including petrographic description and sequence characteristics. Interpreting biostratigraphic and sedimentological data to reconstruct past depositional environments. Preparing high-quality maps and manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed scientific journals. Minimum Qualification
M Sc. in stratigraphy and sedimentary rocks. Strong academic track record with demonstrable experience in sequence stratigraphy, sedimentology, facies analysis, and paleoenvironmental reconstruction. Proficiency in fieldwork. Hands-on experience in laboratory work related to sequence stratigraphy and microfacies analysis. Ability to work in a collaborative research environment and engage in professional networking.
Preferred Qualification
A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals. Experience in sedimentary rocks, sequence stratigraphy and paleoenvironmental modelling.
