Description Job Title: Driver Hours: 40 hours/week Days: 5 per week / 8 hrs daily (overtime likely) Wage: Per employer policy Union: Local 926 - Teamsters Union Qualifications to be considered a candidate: Valid/current CDL license – Class A Equipment Used: Operate CDL Vehicle- Class A - Automatic, Electric Pallet Jack, utility knife, tape, pallets, etc. Materials Handled: Bulk packages of produce items, individually packed produce items, chock blocks, load locks, order forms, etc. General Description: The Driver is responsible for identifying items ordered, obtaining product from coolers, moving the product to staging area using electric pallet jacks, then loading items onto trucks for delivery. Driver is also responsible for delivery and unloading of the truck at designated customer location. Essential Job Functions: Obtain Bills of Lading from office and proof all product ready to be loaded for delivery. Using a Pallet Jack, move goods onto truck making sure product is secure on both the pallet and the truck. Perform vehicle pre and post trip inspection prior to leaving and returning to/from your delivery. Maintains driver log according to I.C.C. regulations Operate CDL vehicle according to DOT regulations capable of safely maneuvering size of truck being used. Service truck with oil, fuel, and radiator fluid to maintain tractor-trailer and reefer. Unload produce at customer’s location via pallet jack to designated area/coolers per customers. Operate Pallet Jack in a manner to permit safe operation following equipment operational guidelines. Requirements General Physical Demands: In addition to sitting for periods of time while driving to each location, this position requires performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs throughout the workday. Worker may occasionally reach at, above, and below shoulder level to obtain goods. Lifting of individual items is occasionally performed during loading/unloading of goods. Individual produce containers do not exceed 50 pounds (with only a few exceptions). Maximum weight is 65 to 70 pounds Specific Physical Demands: Lifting: Performed as part of all work activities in some capacity. Amounts lifted may range from 1 to 70 pounds (average pounds per case up to 35 pounds). Most lifting will be from shoulder to waist level with an occasional lift from overhead to floor level. Drivers are instructed to bend at the knees to lift from the floor Carrying: Cartons carried range from 1-35 pounds usually a distance of no more than 10 feet Walking: Frequently throughout the day loading/unloading product. Most all work surfaces are concrete Standing: Standing occurs as needed Sit/Drive: Driving a commercial vehicle is performed daily; sitting occurs for extended periods of time Bending: Bending from the waist and/or at the knees may be performed as part of some work activities Stooping: May need to be performed by the choice of the worker; although not recommended Twist/Turn: May be performed as part of some work activities; using caution if carrying product Reaching: Performed as part of most duties. Reaching is usually above, at, and below shoulder level Push/Pull: Pushing or pulling is performed when assembling less than a full pallet of goods and when straightening goods on a pallet Kneeling: Kneeling may be performed (if needed) at the choice of the worker Climbing: The worker will climb into the tractor (approximately 15 inch step) as needed Conditions: Work is performed inside the warehouse, at a customer site, or may be outdoors for a short period of time. Inside trailer and/or cooler temperatures may be as low as 35 degrees. Training: As per employer policy and DOT Regulations
