JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS

The Vice President Community Engagement is responsible for developing HCA Healthcare’s community engagement agenda in alignment with the overall strategy for Marketing & Corporate Affairs (M&CA) and based on a strong understanding of business strategy, stakeholder engagement, and community needs. This leader must exude the HCA Healthcare mission in all interactions. The role serves as a trusted leader within the organization, and is accountable for planning, developing, and executing the organization’s strategic direction for community engagement efforts across the enterprise. A key responsibility is to position HCA Healthcare as a partner and leader within the community, including government, business, social services, philanthropy and educational organizations. The VP leads an enterprise-wide team of community engagement leaders embedded in the various HCA Healthcare divisions and markets.
This VP of Community Engagement is involved with operational aspects of the HCA Healthcare Foundation including the Middle Tennessee Fund, the Healthier Tomorrow Fund and special initiatives for colleagues and dependents. In doing so, this leader will guide and direct nearly $50M of investment from HCA Healthcare in the communities it serves. This VP also oversees the HCA Healthcare Hope Fund.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Plan, develop, and execute the organization’s strategic direction for community engagement efforts in collaboration with key internal stakeholders.
• Align HCA Healthcare’s community engagement agenda with business strategy, stakeholder engagement, and community needs. Stakeholders include company and community leaders, non-profit organizations and government officials as well as HCA Healthcare Hospital Boards and Market Advisory Councils.
• Lead or provide guidance on a variety of major initiatives related to HCA Healthcare’s positive community reputation and relevance.
• Lead the strategic direction of the HCA Healthcare Foundation and oversee the operations including grantmaking, program development and learning and evaluation.
• Oversee the HCA Healthcare Hope Fund, ensuring that it provides effective support to HCA Healthcare colleagues in financial need.
• Manage multiple cost center budgets.
• Lead and develop a multi-layered, sizable team of community engagement professionals.
• Ensure applicable legal and compliance guidance is followed within the department.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community engagement investments and programs by utilizing high value meaningful metrics.
• Represent HCA Healthcare at select community events and meetings.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in community engagement, corporate social responsibility, philanthropy or a related field.
• Proven track record of developing and implementing successful community engagement strategies.
• Experience managing budgets and teams.
• Experience working with non-profit organizations.
• Experience in a multi-department oversight role.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Master’s degree in a related field preferred (e.g., Public Health, Business Administration, Communications).
