You make your way to the employee change room and transform into your comfortable and clean uniform, punch in at the time clock and energetically join your teammates in the kitchen. You may be preparing to join a shift or open the food and beverage department. Regardless of the time of day or length of shift, you are ready to meet every guest with exceptional service and care! Once you enter the kitchen, you will not stop running, cleaning, sorting, and organizing. It’s important for you to keep your workstation organized. A pile of plates, utensils, different sizes of food pans and pots keep coming to you. As a dishwasher, you are required to be highly organized and have strong attention to detail. You pre-soak utensils, remove food debris from each plate and place them in a rack in an orderly fashion. You fill the racks as full as possible so that the machine works efficiently and cleaning supplies do not go to waste. While the dishwasher is operating, you get another rack for utensils or glasses to be ready for the next cycle. As you unload the dishes, you check that they all are spotless and none of them have been chipped or damaged. You stack plates and kitchen tools by size and place them back on the right shelves, ready for your kitchen team mates and servers. You may be asked to get saucepans cleaned quickly as the line is very busy with the dinner rush or find the pans that have stubborn food debris and require a serious scrub. Throughout the day, you will be in constant communications with your supporting team. You want to help your teammates in any way you can, this might mean assisting the bussers with clearing tables or helping with a delivery of fresh produce that just came in. For the safety of you and your teammates, you ensure the kitchen floors are clean and dry. You frequently check the sink drain and clean the catch basket of the dishwasher to prevent water backups. Our guests enjoy their meals and drinks at the restaurant or in the banquet space, and have no idea about the controlled chaos in the kitchen, all of us work as a team to provide the best service possible. You always keep in mind that the kitchen team can’t cook great food if they don’t have clean pots, pans and plates and the bartenders need spotless glasses to serve wine and drinks; your role is essential to the whole food and beverage operation!! By the time you leave, you are more than satisfied that your teammates have everything they need and our guests are taken care of and having a great time in our restaurant.
