We are looking for a talented Biosolids Sr. Project Manager / Technical Lead focused on the planning and engineering design of water infrastructure projects who wants to be part of a purpose-driven organization that’s focused on helping our clients, colleagues and communities thrive. This role requires a biosolids technology leader with the requisite skills to grow our business and support our clients in the Mid-Atlantic region. The position requires leadership in the execution and delivery of technically complex biosolids projects and provides opportunities for thought leadership through collaboration with global practice leadership for biosolids and energy recovery as well as research and innovation teams in the development and deployment of innovative technologies. The successful candidate will be someone with strong leadership and communication skills, market knowledge, technical understanding of biosolids processes, business acumen combined with innovative ideas, and a successful history of client relations and account management.

YOUR CAPABILITIES AND CREDENTIALS

• You inspire project teams to higher levels of achievement.

• Understanding of local and regional jurisdictional codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
• Strong ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD drawings and Revit models.
• Demonstrates strong understanding of construction elements as it relates to design in order to select construction / delivery methods and defining work area limits.
• Demonstrates strong communication skills with particular emphasis on listening.
• Demonstrates financial capabilities to facilitate benefit to cost analyses of biosolids and energy recovery projects.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Experience: Minimum of 15 years of biosolids related experience, preferably for biosolids master planning and design projects.
• Licensure: Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain license within 6 months.
• Demonstrated successful experience in leadership, including defining and setting the direction for a team, project, and office; strategy development; change management; and corporate stewardship.
• Travel to other offices as well as to project sites will likely be required.

• Manage a team of design professionals and technicians to meet project scope and budget
• Mentor and supervise staff and develop high-performing project teams
• Perform complex engineering design tasks on assigned wastewater-related projects through collaboration with a wide range of technical disciplines. Routine technical tasks include:
• Design basis documents
• Engineering calculations including water, heat, and material balances
• Equipment sizing and selection
• Engineering drawings such as block flow diagrams (BFDs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), and piping and instrumentation diagrams (PIDs)

• Feasibility studies

• Presentations to clients, regulatory agencies and/or project stakeholders

• Quality reviews

• Competently perform mass & energy balance and process equipment sizing calculations and coordinate with other engineering disciplines including stress/structural, instrumentation & controls, and electrical

• Assist senior engineers/designers with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule
• Assist with the management of the design and construction of projects of varying complexity and within multidisciplinary teams
• Conduct and/or coordinate quality assurance and quality control on assigned projects and facilitate independent technical review projects by others
• Support the permitting process of projects, which may require meeting with clients, contractors, interested stakeholder parties, reviewing agency personnel
• Facilitate decision making on large projects
• Oversee proposals including development of the scope and level of effort of comparable size.
• Research and understand issues related to regulatory and other drivers that impact individual projects
• Assist business leaders in project revenue forecasting
• Support biosolids project development and collaborate with regional business lines to increase Stantec business and profile
