About the role……
We’re on the lookout for a talented and passionate Wetsuit Designer to join Rip Curl’s Product Centre of Excellence at our global HQ in Torquay. You’ll be part of the team responsible for developing the most innovative, high-performance wetsuits in the world—designed for surfers who live for the Search.
Working alongside the Wetsuit team, you’ll dive deep into the technical side of wetsuit design, helping shape ranges that perform in the water and push boundaries in surf and wake gear.
What You’ll Be Doing

Product Design & Development

• Support the design and development of wetsuit ranges from concept to production.
• Learn the details of technical wetsuit design—fit, function, and innovation.
• Help create new blocks, fabrics, and concepts that elevate the category.
• Assist with fittings, strike-off approvals, and development alongside Product Development.
• Ensure consistency in print techniques and technical yardage across all regions.
• Contribute to the evolution of key wetsuit segments: Ultimate, Core, and Classic.

Creativity & Innovation

• Stay on top of global surf and youth fashion trends and bring fresh ideas to the table.
• Focus on the edit point customer and help ensure our wetsuits win on the beach and in the lineup.
• Keep the creative direction strong and consistent across all wetsuit ranges.
• Attend Design Camp meetings and contribute to the creative energy of the team.

Process & Execution

• Meet all design deadlines and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
• Ensure suppliers can deliver the right quality at the right price.
• Create and scale artwork, yardage repeats, and engineered designs in both low and high res.

Teamwork & Collaboration

• Build strong working relationships with the Head of Design, Senior Wetsuit Designer, and the global design team.
• Communicate clearly and consistently across departments to keep everything running smoothly.

What You’ll Bring

• A motivated, enthusiastic approach to design and teamwork.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with others.
• Strong understanding of garment construction, trims, and technical fabrics.
• A good eye for trends and the ability to apply them in a timely way.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• A genuine belief in the Rip Curl brand, its customers, and its values.
