This role will primarily be focussed on supporting the delivery of the Surrey Police Operation Solve Programme. This is an extensive review of numerous areas of the policing model and involves the delivery to implementation of a range of business change and technology-enabled projects aimed to improve current and enhance future public service provision.
You may already be a Business Analyst or similar but applications will be considered from individuals who are able to demonstrate capability and have proven potential but as yet have little or no experience of performing a business analysis role or maybe already work in policing and are looking for a new career direction. There may be further opportunities on other programmes and at other locations in future. We are open to secondments from internal candidates or partner agencies.
You will be provided with training to BCS Business Analysis Certification and beyond, as well as coached by a very supportive team to complete a portfolio leading to promotion to the next grade.
Key Responsibilities
Working under direction of Programme and Project Managers, you will play a key part in shaping the programme.

Day-to-day duties and key responsibilities:

  • Managing tasks and schedules of programmes, projects and workstreams, ensuring their successful delivery
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to translate business needs into requirements and help them define deliverable goals and document them in a clear and concise manner
  • Support the development of scorecards, dashboards, tracking frameworks and reports using tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau
  • Solutions development and recommendations evaluation of different options, assessing their feasibility and impact, and recommending the best course of action within the value for money Policing framework
  • Identify and analyse risks and issues from research and best practice elsewhere (both within policing and other organisations) to business areas, projects and change programmes providing mitigating or corrective actions
  • Undertake analysis to understand business challenges, identify root causes of problems, trends, highlighting, documenting and recommending areas for system and business process improvements where reengineering can deliver more efficient working practices and/or transform the way in which we work
  • Collaborate with teams to understand data needs and deliver insights
  • Perform data analysis to consider the impact of change on areas such as demand, shift patterns, performance, costs, people, skills, training, travel time, benefits, risks and opportunities
  • Capture and analyse data/information and present analysis to stakeholders in ways that is meaningful to, and easily understood by stakeholders, enabling them to make evidence-based business decisions
  • Gather and analyse relevant financial information, evaluating options by providing a cost/benefit analysis to support effective spend of public funds

Skills & Experience

  • Able to demonstrate capability and/or work experience in defining continuous improvements and involvement in successful change
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills with the ability to form and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including developing collaborative approaches within an organisation
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to think laterally and identify innovative solutions and/or process improvements
  • Highly customer focussed with a good understanding of the organisation’s goals and objectives and an excellent team worker with a commitment to deliver results.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and Word) and can demonstrate competency in using these applications
  • Ability to demonstrate high levels of integrity and professionalism, whilst dealing with confidential and sensitive information and working under pressure to tight deadlines
