GENERAL PURPOSE: The Director of Development plays a pivotal role within Growing Home’s Executive Leadership Team. Their responsibilities include supporting and implementing the organization’s mission and vision, as well as fostering a strong sense of belonging among all staff members. The Director actively drives and executes the development strategy, ensuring financial sustainability and growth goals are met while elevating Growing Home’s image through our marketing and communications. The Director oversees all development staff and activities - including external marketing and communications, utilizing effective, community-centered, and data-driven techniques to fuel and fulfill Growing Home’s mission and funding goals. Collaborating with all teams, the Director is responsible for ensuring strong integration of the development framework throughout the organization and within the finance department. Additionally, in partnership with the CEO, the Director provides leadership, management, strategic planning, and enhancements to internal organizational systems, processes, policies, and infrastructure. The Director will have primary responsibility for establishing and implementing the infrastructure needed to grow through the solicitation of major gifts, federal and state grants, and corporate and foundation support. They will expand and diversify Growing Home’s nonprofit donor base/pipeline and work closely with other team members to secure funding for new initiatives. It is expected that the amount raised by Growing Home will increase in future years as the Director systematically and effectively strengthens the organization's overall fundraising capacity and secures new business partners. This role requires strong writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. RESPONSIBILITIES: Development Leadership and Organization Culture Supervise and support the Development Team staff in all functions of their role Help manage employee relations issues and oversee performance management for the Development Team Provide training and support to staff, Development Committee members, and the Board of Directors on their role in Growing Home’s development strategy Create and manage the?development department budget in conjunction with the CEO and the Finance Department Serve as staff liaison to the?Development Committee, co-planning and co-facilitating meetings with the?Committee Chair Collaborate with Director of Programs and other key staff to ensure integration in funding opportunities and program needs Work closely with the CEO and Finance Department to ensure alignment between fundraising and operational efforts Participate in Growing Home’s Executive Leadership Team, contributing to the creation and implementation of the organization’s strategic goals as well as the overall management of the organization and its workplace culture Facilitate a culture of belonging and inclusivity among staff and other stakeholders Lead and manage organizational strategic priorities and goals related to fundraising, planned giving, external communications, and community engagement Supervise the Development Team staff using Growing Home’s servant leadership philosophy Develop and implement strategies for community-centered fundraising, planned giving, and communications activities in alignment with Growing Home’s mission and vision Ensure alignment and effective collaboration among development staff and other stakeholders Oversee and manage the success of organizational events Fundraising Oversee the creation, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvements of strategy for a comprehensive development department Collaborate with the CEO and the Finance Department to create, manage, and evaluate Growing Home’s annual revenue plan and timeline with an emphasis on growing and diversifying revenue for continued financial sustainability across all sources (individual, corporate, and community donors; foundation and government grants; in-kind) In collaboration with the CEO and Development Committee, design, implement, and evaluate fundraising events, drives, and campaigns Oversee volunteer program, with a focus on corporate/company volunteer groups, to develop relationships while ensuring it is meeting programmatic and fundraising goals Mindfully weave a culture of philanthropy throughout Growing Home by developing and facilitating staff professional development/training on development, planned giving, community engagement, and other development-centered areas Oversee maintenance and effective utilization of the donor database, ensuring the team captures all data; preparing reports and providing information regarding fundraising goals as requested and required Provide strategy and guidance to the?CEO in development initiatives, donor stewardship, and cultivation Prospect and network with new donors as well as steward and cultivate relationships with existing donors Establish and maintain partnerships with external organizations, community groups, and industry networks to stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in development best practices, fundraising, and planned giving (not an all-inclusive list) Ensure strict confidentiality is kept with employee, vendor, participant, donor, and volunteer information Oversee and support additional development duties as they arise Marketing and Communications Oversee and provide guidance on all aspects of Growing Home’s marketing and communications work Ensure the strategic direction of all marketing, branding, and communications efforts, ensuring a consistent and engaging public presence that amplifies the organization's impact Ensure external communications for supporters, fundraising, and stakeholders are data-informed, ethical, strengths-based, accessible, and in alignment with the organization’s messaging platform Grant and Fiscal Management Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for CEO related to development, fundraising, planned giving, community engagement, and other development-centered areas Collaborate with the finance department to contribute to the annual budget process and to oversee payment accounts (i.e., Square, Venmo, etc.) Ensure responsible fiscal oversight of departmental spending Collaborate with the CEO to determine funds needed for development initiatives Write grant reports in collaboration with the Grant Writer as needed Contributes to the?organization’s Culture of Philanthropy with staff, community members, volunteers, donors, and at events Receive and input donations using CRM and other types of platforms Requirements JOB QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of 5 years of proven track record in nonprofit fundraising, with an understanding of and experience in community-centered fundraising At least 3 years of supervisory, leadership, and management experience of 3 or more employees required Experience with CRM required- Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT or other development software required Strong written and oral communication, bilingual English/Spanish preferred Experience in donor cultivation, grant and government contract management, volunteer management, and marketing/communications required Strong relationship-building skills and experience overseeing team relations Creative problem solver and innovator with the ability to take the initiative and delegate when necessary Experience in recruiting, training, and managing high-level volunteers such as fundraisers and committee members Ability and desire to effectively collaborate with others to meet goals Ability to mobilize and activate in diverse communities, observing cultural humility, sensitivity, and openness to working alongside people from diverse backgrounds Experience with Microsoft 365, including SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint preferred Valid Driver’s License and proof of valid vehicle insurance required Reliable vehicle required WHY YOU SHOULD WORK AT GROWING HOME: Competitive Pay: $ 78,850-94,728 Company-sponsored medical, dental, and vision plans (employer pays 88% of the premium for employee medical insurance;
