Contract Instructor – Computer Architecture & Operating Systems Location: Toronto, ON (In-Person) Position Type: Contract Course Dates: September 14 – December 14 Teaching Schedule: Every Tuesday, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (includes one 30-minute break) Compensation: $45.00 per hour About the Opportunity ILAC International College is seeking an industry professional with expertise in computer systems, operating systems, or software engineering to teach our Computer Architecture & Operating Systems course. We are looking for someone who is passionate about technology and enjoys sharing their real-world knowledge with aspiring IT professionals. The ideal candidate brings industry experience and can connect theoretical concepts to practical applications, helping students understand how modern computer systems function and preparing them for careers in software development, systems administration, and IT. What You’ll Teach This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of computer architecture and operating systems through a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on activities. Students will explore how computer hardware and software interact while developing practical problem-solving skills through simulations and applied assignments. Topics include: * Computer architecture fundamentals * CPU design, registers, ALU, and processor architecture * Memory hierarchy, RAM, ROM, cache, and storage systems * Instruction Set Architecture (RISC and CISC) * Pipeline architecture and parallel processing * Motherboard architecture and system buses * Endianness and data representation * Operating system fundamentals * Physical and virtual memory management * Processes, threads, scheduling algorithms, and synchronization * Linux file systems and file management * Input/output devices and resource management Students complete practical simulations and assignments throughout the course, reinforcing key concepts through real-world scenarios. Responsibilities * Deliver engaging and interactive classroom instruction aligned with the approved curriculum. * Prepare lesson plans, presentations, demonstrations, and hands-on learning activities. * Facilitate classroom discussions, simulations, and practical exercises. * Evaluate student performance through assignments, quizzes, and examinations. * Provide timely, constructive feedback and academic support. * Monitor attendance, participation, and student progress. * Maintain accurate academic records and submit grades by required deadlines. * Foster an inclusive and collaborative learning environment. * Work closely with the Academic team to ensure a high-quality student experience. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (Master's degree considered an asset). * Minimum three years of industry experience in software engineering, systems engineering, IT infrastructure, cloud computing, or operating systems. * Strong understanding of computer architecture, processor design, memory systems, and operating system concepts. * Experience working with Linux environments and system administration. * Experience teaching, mentoring, or training adult learners is considered an asset. * Excellent communication and presentation skills. * Passion for sharing industry knowledge and mentoring future technology professionals. We are looking for an instructor who is passionate about networking technologies and enjoys helping students build practical, job-ready skills through hands-on learning. This course combines theoretical instruction with practical lab activities, preparing students to understand, configure, and troubleshoot modern computer networks using industry-standard tools. The successful candidate will guide students through networking concepts while facilitating engaging lab exercises using Cisco Packet Tracer, Wireshark, and Linux environments.  Position Details Location: Toronto, ON (In-Person) Position Type: Contract Course Dates: September 14 – December 14 Teaching Schedule: Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.  Compensation: $45.00 per hour About the Course Students develop practical networking skills through a combination of lectures and hands-on labs.
