Description Job Title: Pool Attendant Department: Recreation Classification: Seasonal Target hourly hiring rate: $15.00 IMRF Position: No Directly Reports To: Recreation Manager – Aquatics and Fitness DESCRIPTION The Stingray Bay Pool Attendant is a part time position located at Stingray Bay. The pool attendant is responsible for general management of dispatch of swimmers on the waterslides. They also help with facility upkeep, special event operations and rule enforcement at the pool. Pool attendants report to the Recreation Manager – Aquatics and Events. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Must be 16 years of age and have reliable transportation. Good customer service skills. Ability to lift 20 pounds. Must be able to climb 3 flights of stairs. Excellent verbal communication skills. Ability to understand and exhibit behavior consistent with the stated park district policy and procedures. Able to work well with the public. Current CPR and first aid certification or able to attain certification prior to opening day of Stingray Bay. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/REPONSIBILITIES Assists patrons with requests if possible. Understand and implement the District’s mission and values statements as created and approved by the Park District Board. Maintains cleanliness of aquatic facility and bathhouse. Supervises slide patrons and enforces rules. Assist with other aquatic staff when required. Communicates with co-workers and administration. Is conscious of safety requirements and enforcement of such. MARGINAL FUNCTIONS Proper use and storage of equipment and supplies. Cleaning of equipment / supplies used. ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS Employee may be exposed to chemicals (cleaning materials). Employee is exposed to indoor and outdoor conditions. Some indoor training is required. ESSENTIAL MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing this job, the employee is required to speak and listen, stand, walk, use hands, sit, stoop, or kneel, bend and lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision requirements include, distance, color vision, peripheral and depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee is allowed and encouraged to use mechanical or manual assists for lifting above 20 lbs. as a guideline. Employee must be able to follow directions with safe follow through and exercise good judgment and safety awareness. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities.
