CMCC GOCO Division, located in Lecce, is looking for a new position of Post-Doc Researcher, responsible for supporting the research and the coastal ocean modelling and monitoring activities.
This position is for a researcher with strong knowledge of remote sensing techniques and programming skills.
The activities will be focused on satellite observations of the estuaries and river plumes with a focus on monitoring temperature and salinity close to the river mouths. The duties will include processing and interpreting the satellite observational datasets, exploiting innovative methods and tools, and integrating them with in situ observations and modelling results at local scale.
The activities will also include collaboration on writing of peer-reviewed publications as well as communication of findings through reporting and/or participation in conferences.

REQUIREMENTS
- Master degree and/or PhD or equivalent experience in Ecosystem and Environment related sciences;
- Knowledge of (geo)statistics and of geospatial/remote sensing data processing software and tools, including GIS and SNAP;
- Experience on the elaboration of optical EO data and derived products for studying processes related to status and changes in coastal /estuarine transitional systems;
- Skills on information technology-based tools and common programming languages (e.g. R, Python, IDL) to deal with huge amount of data;
- A good knowledge of English language.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
- Good communication skills and teamworking attitude;
- Advanced knowledge of GIS and SNAP softwares;
- An excellent knowledge of English language;
- Experience in writing of peer-reviewed publications.
Responsibilities:
ROLE
The researcher will contribute to the working group of FOCCUS and AdriaClimPlus Projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The researcher will support the GOCO Division with:
- Satellite observations of the estuaries and river plumes with a focus on monitoring temperature and salinity close to the river mouths;
- Exploiting innovative methods to retrieve river mouth salinity;
- Developing tools and integrating them with in situ observations and modeling results at estuarine and plume scales.
