We are looking for a Junior Science Communication and Dissemination Specialist to support the
REgional Models and geo-Hydrological Impacts (REMHI) Division team in communication, dissemination, and outreach activities in the field of climate change and its interaction with the society.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in biology, ecology or science communications;
  • Proven (minimum) experience in science communication;
  • Basic expertise in developing and executing multiplatform communication, dissemination, and editorial strategies and plans;
  • Basic experience in collaborating effectively with scientists;
  • A multimedia/multiplatform approach to designing and realizing interactive communication and dissemination products;
  • Proficiency in remote collaboration and office tools like GSuite, with a positive attitude towards team collaboration and strong team-oriented attitude;
  • Familiarity with the most common Content Management Systems (CMS), particularly WordPress, as well as mailing list management tools such as MailUp and Mailchimp;
  • Familiarity with photo, audio and video production tools;
  • Background in managing editorial content;
  • Fluency in English;
  • Willingness to travel in Italy and abroad participate in both in-person meetings and videoconferences;
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively in a team environment;
  • Accuracy and good analytical skills.

Responsibilities:

The Junior Science Communication and Dissemination Specialist reports to the Communication Officer and to the Division Director, she/he will work in close cooperation with the scientific team to implement the communication and outreach activities for the research and innovation projects of the division (Horizon Europe and/or European tenders), mainly within the HE Adaptation AGORA project. These responsibilities include drafting communication and dissemination plans, supporting the organization of in-person and virtual meetings, workshops, and webinars, and developing diverse outreach materials, especially for the AGORA digital handbook (including visuals materials and multimedia materials, infographics, videos). The Junior Science Communication and Dissemination Specialist will be responsible for developing content (for website, social media and any other digital tools) based on project activities and related initiatives and creating engaging content to effectively communicate scientific findings to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
The Science Communication and Dissemination Specialist will collaborate with project partners to attend meetings, ensure consistent messaging, and provide support as needed. She/he will also contribute to the development of educational resources and participate in public engagement activities to enhance the visibility and impact of the research projects. The candidate may be asked to monitor the progress of communication and dissemination activities and write periodic reports.
We seek a versatile individual familiar with photo, audio, and video production tools, capable of conducting interviews and designing engaging content. The ideal candidate will be proactive, creative, and skilled in using various media to convey complex scientific concepts in an accessible and compelling manner.
