Description:

JOB OVERVIEW

As a 1st Assistant Greenkeeper, you will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing our 36 hole Championship venue. This position requires a hands-on approach to golf course maintenance, ensuring that all areas are well-kept and thriving. You will be responsible for various tasks that contribute to the overall playability of the courses, utilising both mechanical and hand tools.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Course Manager and Deputy Course Manager in the daily running of the golf courses

  • Address unforeseen challenges and issues promptly
  • Oversee and ensure all maintenance tasks meet standard operating procedures and the expected standards of the Club
  • Maintain a high attention to detail
  • Support team and course development
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with Health & Safety regulations and the Club’s development plan
  • Assist in minor equipment maintenance and ensure Greenstaff complete pre-start checks and use machinery effectively
  • Apply fertilisers, pesticides, and other related materials in accordance with H&S policies and industry best practices
  • Lead a weekend team and take full responsibility for presentation, health and safety and course closures at these times
  • Undertake training as identified to ensure levels of operation are continued
  • Demonstrate a general willingness for CPD

  • Ensure the work area and equipment is kept clean and tidy
  • Communicate with fellow staff, members, and visitors in a positive and professional manner
  • Comply with company policies and all training requirements
  • Adhere to the departmental code of conduct and employee handbook
  • Actively participate in achieving the Club’s objectives
  • Represent Littlestone Golf Club positively at all times

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and improve the condition of the greens/surrounds, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, drainage/irrigation systems
  • Monitor turf quality and identify pests, diseases, disorders etc
  • Assist and enhance the operation of the department
  • Lead by example to ensure standards and targets are met
  • Carry out all departmental tasks in accordance with H&S standards
  • Lead, train, and motivate Greenstaff
  • Understand and apply materials used in the running of the courses
  • Maintain relevant records
  • Plan and assist in project work
  • Report to work in a timely manner and adjust to seasonal changes

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £27,092.00-£35,747.74 per year
