MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
Applicants must have a Master’s Degree in Justice Studies, Criminal Justice/Criminology, or a related field by the time of appointment. They must also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to a liberal arts education in a diverse educational environment. Master’s Degree or higher in Justice Studies or a related field from an accredited institution, and have at least 18 graduate hours in Justice Studies by the time of appointment.
DEPARTMENT REQUIRED SKILLS
- Master’s Degree or higher in Justice Studies with at least 18 graduate hours of coursework, from an accredited institution.
- Candidate should possess one year or more of successful teaching experience.
- Ph.D. or have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. in Justice Studies, History, or a related field by the time of appointment.
- Special consideration will be given to those with experience teaching and/or publishing in two or more of the following fields: theories of justice and race; crime and public policy; African-American History; crime and the city.
- Experience teaching Criminal & Constitutional Law courses.
- Ph.D. in History with a specialization in Law
- Ability to teach in a Historically Black Institution, sensitivity to the issues of social justice confronting minority groups in the United States and around the world; an experienced, self-disciplined, compassionate professional who can act as a role model for our students by inspiring them to excel as they confront social justice issues.
PREFERRED YEARS EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, TRAINING, EDUCATION
- Ph.D. in Justice Studies and Geography and/or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to a liberal arts education in a diverse educational community.
- Prior teaching experience in a diverse university environment.
