Description:

The Faculty of Education is seeking qualified Contract Academic Staff (CAS) (formerly known as Sessional Instructors) to teach the following courses during the 2024-25 Regular Session Winter Term in our undergraduate programs.

04.253 INCLUSIVE EDUCATION AND CHILDHOOD EXCEPTIONALITIES (EY-MY), A00

(January 7 – April 4, 2025; Tues/Thurs 8:30-9:50 AM)
The focus of this course is on the role of the early and middle years teacher in providing inclusive education within the classroom to a diverse student population. This course develops inclusive educational practices and provides a critical examination on the Manitoba context, including the Public Schools Amendment Act (Appropriate Education Programming), and the concepts of disability and learner differences. Instruction about how to deploy a universal design for instruction, adaptation, modifications, and the provision of assistive technology is also included.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must hold a Master’s Degree and preference will be given to candidates who hold a Ph.D or who are at the ABD stage in a related field. Applicants may seek to establish an experiential/traditional equivalency to the Master’s degree and are invited to contact the Dean of Education on how to establish equivalent academic or professional credentials; please direct such inquiries to the email address below. Applicants must qualify for a Manitoba teaching certificate, have a good understanding of the Manitoba school curriculum, and have successful teaching experience and relevant expertise in the specified area.
Salary: $6,901 per 3 credit hour course
