JOB DESCRIPTION
Our apprenticeships span a range of different sectors and are based within a variety of different teams working on a wide range of projects, so as you can imagine, each role varies. If you’re invited to an interview, this is when we will discuss in more detail the specifics of the job role you applied for and what it involves.
You’ll be working with graduates, experienced professionals, and other apprentices so an apprenticeship with us is the perfect opportunity to learn from a variety of people while understanding our values and culture.
With our apprenticeships you can really make the role your own. The more you get involved and the more questions you ask, the more you will gain.
As a Civil Engineering Scottish Modern Apprentice your duties will include:
- Contribute to projects in local communities
- Develop knowledge of infrastructure design standards and best practice guidance
- Deliver safe by design projects
- Contribute towards sustainable development that will allow us to deliver Net Zero infrastructure
- Learn new digital skills and use it to drive innovation in project delivery
- Learn on the job with support for colleagues
- Develop inter-personal skills
- Ability to work independently when appropriate and contribute to problem solving
- Application of the theory you learn at University to your project work
- Supervising the production of drawings and 3D BIM models
We are currently recruiting into either our Edinburgh or Glasgow teams.
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION
To join us for a Civil Engineering Scottish Modern Apprenticeship you must meet the eligibility requirements of the relevant training provider. These are:
- 5 National 5/GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above including English and Maths
We are looking for students with the following characteristics:
- A methodical approach to problem solving.
- The ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
- Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
