POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director, Outreach & Product Services, the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of APEGA’s EDI programs, including the successful completion of APEGA’s provincial and federal grant projects and ensuring they align with the long-term mandate and objectives of APEGA and the profession. The programs focus on providing various value-added services and initiatives to attract, retain, and advance women to the Engineering and Geoscience professions.
In addition, the role provides direct support to the Director, Outreach & Product Services by assisting in the management of APEGA’s overall equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives, and additional projects within the Outreach & Product Services department.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary degree in Science, Engineering, Education, Sociology, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in progressively more responsible supervisory roles.
  • Prior experience in a professional environment in developing, planning, and executing similar programs or events.
  • Volunteer management experience is considered an asset.
  • Budgetary experience is considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the equity, diversity and inclusion portfolio by creating long- and short-term strategy plans for portfolio success and making recommendations on new programs or portfolios.
  • Leading the successful completion of grant projects, when applicable, including timeline development and management, staff and volunteer allocations, financial tracking, and budgeting, and ensuring successful completion of all outcomes.
  • Researching grant and award funding opportunities, providing recommendations to Director, Outreach & Product Services, and assisting in the development of proposals and/or applications
  • Documenting, evaluating, and measuring portfolio success and reporting such metrics to Director, Outreach & Product Services. Includes modifying future program development and planning to account for insights generated through analyzing these metrics.
  • Hosting monthly Women in APEGA Advisory Group meetings, attending meetings, developing terms of references for the group, and summarizing group recommendations and action items or next steps. . Includes recruiting and training volunteers in collaboration with the Volunteer Manager,
  • Summarizing Advisory Group recommendations and portfolio updates for Director, Outreach & Product Services.
  • Collaborating with the communications department around communication requirements including graphic design, messaging, or promotion of the portfolios and any print or electronic communications while ensuring appropriate media coverage.
  • Performing post-event evaluation, including data entry, data analysis, and producing reports for executive or key stakeholders.
  • Developing resources to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace including research standards, best practices, reports, and scientific studies relevant to the initiative.
  • Learning existing programming and identify any gaps in current offerings.
  • Creating resources such as presentations, training, webinars and guidelines, etc. for stakeholders.
  • Proactively maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders to further the objectives of APEGA’s EDI programs such as maintaining key contacts with various agencies, and community organizations with similar objectives.
  • Liaising with members, permit holders, APEGA staff, and the public to promote events and increase engagement in program initiatives.
