Chenega Agile Real-Time Solutions (CARS) was created with the purpose of providing integrated enterprise IT support to Federal customers both CONUS and OCONUS. CARS employs Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with decades of experience working in the Federal marketplace.
The 508 Compliance Analyst assesses ICT for Section 508 compliance and conducts web accessibility testing using both automated tools and manual methods. They provide technical assistance and plain language reports to developers, offering code examples to resolve non-compliance issues. The role involves close collaboration with developers, designers, and the SDD 508 PMO team to ensure accessibility is prioritized in the development process. Additionally, they monitor compliance efforts, stay informed on accessibility trends, and coach teams on best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess information and communication technology (ICT) for Section 508 compliance.
  • Conduct comprehensive web accessibility testing using both automated tools and manual techniques.
  • Provide technical assistance to developers and clients to assist with remediation of non-compliance issues.
  • Use the ACRT to provide Accessibility testing reports to the Development Team.
  • Generate plain language reports for developers outlining compliance issues and spelling out steps to remediate those issues – including code examples - whether they originate from internal audits or audits conducted by the SDD 508 PMO’s Team (Federal staff).
  • Coordinate and communicate with the SDD 508 PMO Team (Federal staff) on a regular basis to ensure web products are making continual progress toward full compliance.
  • Collaborate with developers, designers, and content creators to ensure accessibility is integrated into the early stages of the design and development processes (SDLC).
  • Field and answer Accessibility questions as they arise from the Development team and other stakeholders.
  • Coach Development team on effective Accessibility practices to apply throughout the SDLC.
  • Monitor and report on the status of accessibility compliance efforts.
  • Stay up to date with the latest accessibility trends, tools, and best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 1+ years of experience in accessibility compliance or a related role.
  • Proven experience in testing and evaluating user interfaces using accessibility testing tools such as ANDI, Deque Axe, WAVE, Lighthouse, or similar.
  • Ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Trusted Tester Certified or other accessibility certifications (e.g., CPACC, WAS, CPWA) prior to hire.
  • Background check required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in Section 508 accessibility requirements and WCAG guidelines.
  • Ability to provide subject matter expertise and to conduct training sessions for the Development team and other stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other web technologies.
  • Ability to work independently and yet be effective within a team setting.
  • Must be capable of managing multiple efforts with time-related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals.
  • Friendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with others.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, and experience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issues.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance and support over the phone; good phone skills, professional demeanor, and previous customer service experience strongly desired.
  • Good problem-solving skills; ability to visualize a problem/situation and think abstractly to solve it.
