Description:
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The Economic Research Department at the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) is looking to fill a position in its Model Development Division to contribute to both economic model development as well as the continued development and renewal of the department’s mission-critical central forecast and modelling platform.
The Associate Economist is expected to be familiar with concurrent, high-performance computing and must be able to contribute towards and develop new functionality of a highly technical nature to the central forecast system.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:
- Develop new, and enhance existing, economic models in line with best practice.
- Work independently and proactively to produce high-quality and policy-relevant outputs.
- Research and develop new forecast and modelling platform requirements, liaising with all stakeholders.
- Propose and renew existing functionality, provide technical inputs, provide development and infrastructure support of the central forecast and modelling platform, and maintain the system.
- Support on-the-job training for team members and monitor implementation.
