Description:

Sunbeam Developmental Resource Centre - Waterloo Region (SDRC) is a division of Sunbeam Community & Developmental Services.
Sunbeam Developmental Resource Centre (SDRC) is the single point of access to developmental services for children in the Region of Waterloo. SDRC provides case management and clinical services to individuals with developmental disabilities and/or Autism Spectrum Disorders. SDRC also assists them and their caregivers in connecting with community services and support. SDRC’s services are available to children and adults with developmental disabilities in Waterloo Region. We are presently inviting applications for a permanent full-time ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis) Consultant. The successful candidate will be required to work flexible hours Monday – Friday; some evenings will be required with the possibility of an occasional weekend. The successful candidates will be based out of our Kitchener location but required to travel throughout Waterloo Region.
As part of our Brightside ABA Services (https://brightsideabaservices.com/), the successful candidate will prepare Safety Plans, comprehensive, behavioural/functional assessments and ABA based intervention strategies. Additionally, there will be a mentorship role supporting Instructor Therapists providing ABA consultation. The work also involves a teaching/training function for families and agencies supporting these individuals in a variety of community settings. You will also work with, and mentor volunteers. All work is performed under the direction and supervision of a Registered Behaviour Analyst (ONT).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis or related health profession, supplemented by several years of broad-based clinical experience.
  • Experience in working with Autism Spectrum Disorders and familiar with its impact on all aspects of functioning.
  • Familiar with the Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act, Child, Youth and Family Services Act, Personal Health Information Act, various other federal and provincial legislations, directives and guidelines, corporation bylaws, policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with the special challenges presented by Dual Diagnosis and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder is a definite asset.
  • Experience working with groups and families.
  • Excellent consulting and oral/written communication skills.
  • Two years of experience using a consultative model in a community setting.
  • Experience in teaching/training.
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR required (or must be prepared to obtain).
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record and reliable transportation.
