POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Mobile Behavior Treatment Team (MBTT) is a partnership between Surrey Place’s Children and Youth Program and Children’s Aid Toronto. Reporting to the Manager of Children and Youth, we are seeking the ABA Therapist who will work under the clinical guidance of a team lead to support children and youth, 6-18, with complex needs. This position seeks to provide trauma informed behavior reduction programs and a variety of skill building programs, including but not limited to social/ interpersonal skills and emotional regulation. `

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College diploma or university degree in a field related to behavioral science technology, psychology, or social services.
  • Two years’ experience working with children/youth with complex behavioral / social emotional needs and their families, using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
  • Knowledge of typical and atypical child and adolescent development.
  • Knowledge of the principles of ABA and ability to translate these into effective intervention strategies for children and youth.
  • Experience providing parent training and coaching including delivery of workshops considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong initiative.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Boardmaker.
  • The successful candidate must provide an acceptable Police Records Check (Vulnerable Sector Screening), and proof of vaccination for covid-19.
  • Fluency in French is considered an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver individual sessions in the areas of communication, behavior management/emotional regulation and social/interpersonal skills to children and youth who have complex behavioral and emotional needs.
  • Provide parent training, education and support services.
  • Work under the clinical direction of the team lead.
  • Implement group sessions, monitor progress and adjust services accordingly.
  • Collect and monitor data.
  • Administer functional assessments.
  • Identify additional service needs as appropriate and assist family in accessing services.
  • Adhere to agency requirements with relation to report writing and record keeping.
  • Hours of operation include ability to work evenings each week and Saturdays.
  • Extensive travel may be required
