ABOUT THE ROLE

The Closing the Gap Senior Project Officer brings their experience and understanding, focusing on challenges which are related to the criminal justice system through the over-representation of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people.
The Senior Project Officer will manage and coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of Criminal Division’s Closing the Gap projects. The role works closely with Criminal Division staff and the Crime Executive as well as a range of justice agencies and external stakeholders which support the justice targets and other organisational objectives.
Please Note: Legal Aid NSW considers that being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational qualification under s 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
Applicants for this role must satisfy the Aboriginality criteria. Aboriginality is defined by descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such.
