It is a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
The Role
The Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences (FMHHS) is seeking an Academic Director to lead and build an empowered Indigenous Health Education and Research Unit within the Faculty. The Unit will drive the embedment of Indigenous perspectives across the faculty’s medicine, health profession, and psychology education courses, provide support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in those courses, lead the Faculty’s engagement with Indigenous communities, and lead or support research relevant to Indigenous peoples’ health. The position will be located within the newly created Faculty Centre for Health Education and Training, will report to the Executive Dean, and will serve on the Faculty Executive Committee as a member of the senior leadership team.
About Us
The FMHHS at Macquarie University fosters a values-based culture of innovation and creativity to achieve excellence in teaching and to enhance the research performance of the University. We invest in developing the careers and wellbeing of our students and staff and expect all our leaders to live our values of Caring, Integrity, Teamwork, Ambition, Innovation, and Empowerment.
The Faculty is home to the University’s cross-disciplinary activities in the broad area of health and human sciences and practice and is a core part of Australia’s first fully integrated academic health sciences centre, MQ Health. In addition, the role will be supported by and work collaboratively with the University’s central
