Description:

ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

Founded in 1988, the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) has become an international leader in innovative, industry-focused higher education, renowned for its strengths in technology, design, creative industries, and sustainability initiatives. Ranking 1st in Australia and 11th globally in the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings, 2024, its world-class campus and exceptional research and education programs, ensure UTS remains one of the nation’s top universities, recognized for blending academic excellence with real-world impact. About the Role Presently, UTS is seeking to appoint a new Academic Director, Online International (Associate Professor, Level D), supporting a bold and exciting new initiative, designed to further expand the university’s online course offerings into a comprehensive global portfolio, reflecting UTS’s enduring reputation for unrivalled quality and innovation. Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education), the role will be responsible for the strategic and operational refinement of the existing course portfolio, drawn from a variety of faculties, helping to further the reach of UTS’s offshore online education business, whilst ensuring the academic standards and quality for which UTS is known are upheld and built upon. Collaborating broadly across the university with both academic and professional staff, it will also drive international hiring and staff training activities, to ensure excellence in curriculum delivery and student experience. With an eye for quality at every stage, the role will drive continuous improvement in course standards, ensure pedagogically sound content delivery, compliance with regulatory frameworks, robust academic integrity, and the effective translation of Australian course content, with a particular focus on the Chinese market. About You As a fluent or near-fluent speaker of English and Mandarin Chinese, with extensive knowledge of both the Australian and Chinese higher education sectors, and holding a relevant PhD, you will bring significant expertise to this role. Your passion for cutting-edge learning technologies, dedication to delivering a high-quality online student experience, and deep sensitivity to cultural and linguistic contexts, make you an education professional with vision and energy. With extensive experience in contemporary digital curriculum design, development, delivery, and assessment, possessed of entrepreneurial flair and a strategic “start-up mindset,” you’ll leverage your academic, communications, and stakeholder management skills to lead an emerging team of contemporary, high-performance educators, dedicated to championing student experience and delivering educational offerings of exceptional quality, and a tireless growth agenda for UTS’s online portfolio, now and into the future. If you have the right combination of knowledge, skills, and expertise to make this the next step in your career, we’d love to hear from you.
