Description:

ISB seeks an Academic Learning Support teacher to work with our Middle School students aged 11-16. The position is a full-time position and will involve supporting students working closely with subject teachers. You will be joining a thriving Middle School team who value international mindedness, inclusion and developing relationships.
Your role will include teaching small groups in Maths or helping individuals in the Maths classroom; offering reading support to students on a 1:1 basis where students have an identified literacy challenge; supporting students in a range of subjects such as English, Science or IS (Individuals & Societies) to ensure that they are able to access the curriculum. Part of the role will involve covering classes for absent colleagues.
As an Academic Learning Support teacher you will be working with teenagers on a daily basis; building relationships with individual students, being a calm and consistent role-model and collaborating with teachers to ensure that all students are able to access the curriculum. You will be expected to be hands-on in classrooms to support the learning and to use your own initiative to support individuals.

Responsibilities:

  • Have a good knowledge of individual student needs and their strategies for how to help them.
  • Collaborate with subject teachers to agree on how best to support students in a subject area e.g. in a small group, 1:1.
  • Cover for absent colleagues when needed.
  • Be part of the subject specific teams and planning of the curriculum.
  • Be proactive about passing on concerns of individual students.
  • Be a part of the wider Middle School team.
  • Work as part of the Learning Support team, meeting with the Head of Middle School to review academic support of students.

Requirements:

  • Commitment to our Pedagogy of Play
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education.
  • Teaching experience, preferably in an IB World School.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of different assessment tools and strategies for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Understanding of both the IB guidelines relating to learner diversity and inclusion, plus the legal requirements and policies related to diverse learning needs in Denmark.
  • If you meet the requirements and are passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

We offer:

  • A full-time position until June 2025, potentially with the possibility of extension
  • A multicultural and respectful working environment with great colleagues, a sense of community and appreciative leadership
  • Terms of employment according to the “Organizational agreement for teachers and Kindergarten leaders at private, independent primary schools, boarding schools and independent vocational schools” and “The joint agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Teachers’ Central Organization”.

Please include:
