We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Academic Liaison to support our Business Information Centre (BIC) at NAIT. This vital role involves assisting students from diverse backgrounds in achieving their academic and career objectives. Academic Liaisons are adept at building strong relationships with students and possess a high level of intercultural competence.
As part of our JR Shaw School of Business, BIC team, Academic Liaisons are crucial in providing student support and progression through a Learning Outcomes approach. This senior-level position combines various responsibilities, including student advising, academic administration, project management, and mentorship.
Key focuses include continuous process improvement, enhancing the student experience, navigating complex situations, and initiating change. A comprehensive understanding of academic programs, policies, financial services, and student support is essential for success within the role.
Academic Liaisons actively contribute to improving advising practices and business processes and collaborate with colleagues across NAIT, while maintaining a student-centered approach. The successful candidate will strongly desire to assist others, demonstrate confidence, composure, and problem-solving abilities, and possess in-depth knowledge to advise students effectively. SKILLS & ABILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Related post-secondary undergraduate degree.
- 5+ years of related experience in post-secondary education.
- Equivalencies (combination of education and experience) may be considered.
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: $77,938.12 - $104,496.86 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Advisor/Specialist III).
This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a collaborative case management approach to provide comprehensive support to students requiring complex assistance with their academic progression. This involves advocating for students and collaborating with key stakeholders and NAIT services. Offer well-informed recommendations on all student-related experiences and business processes.
- Act as a subject matter expert in JR Shaw School of Business programming, coordinating with the Registrar’s Office, JR Shaw School of Business Leadership, Program Leadership, various NAIT services and BIC Program Specialists to support various functions of the student life cycle, such as recruitment, admissions, matriculation, enrolment, student retention, and graduation.
- Liaise with NAIT’s Advising areas to ensure the delivery of effective academic, career, and professional designation advising to both prospective and current students to enhance the student experience within the JR Shaw School of Business and NAIT.
- Address student concerns and conduct matters by coordinating and liaising with JR Shaw School of Business Leadership, Program Leadership, Student Resolution Office and NAIT’s Student Association (NAITSA).
- Lead, manage, and implement projects with precision and effectiveness, applying project management methodologies, fostering collaboration among cross-functional teams, and ensuring timely delivery of outcomes.
