Responsibilities:
THE ROLE
The role of Academic Mentor supports the progression and development of the degree apprenticeship student across a number of programmes within the business school. We are looking for individuals to support apprentices on Human Resources, Leadership and Management apprenticeships. Experience of working with degree apprentices would be beneficial, but experience of mentoring and coaching in general is essential.
Specifically, you will visit apprentices in their workplace/virtually and play an important role in guiding and overseeing their professional development, supporting them through to programme completion. The role of Academic Mentor is pivotal in helping apprentices to identify professional development opportunities and build their portfolio of evidence against the degree apprenticeship standards ready for an end point assessment. You will be the first point of contact in terms of offering support, so being able to build strong relationships is essential.
This is a peripatetic role and travel around England should be expected, although dynamic and remote working has become a key part the role in recent times. Working as part of an Academic Mentor team you will work closely with the Academic Mentor Manager and Programme Director to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of programmes in accordance with the College’s education strategy. This role offers flexibility in terms of managing your time and meeting with apprentices to support them.
