Summary of Responsibilities
The position will ensure the acceptance of all design documentation, ensuring its comprehensiveness and adherence to regulations, codes, and license requirements. The position will interact with different departments of URENCO to ensure all system testing and as-built documentation is complete for turnover on behalf of the Owner. The process will ensure that the acceptance of structures, systems, and components meet all design documentation requirements.
Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering discipline
  • A minimum of Two (2) years of engineering experience in Electrical, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering discipline.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of related engineering experience in Electrical, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering discipline.
  • One (1) to two (2) years minimum of experience in the nuclear power or fuel cycle industry.

Physical Job Demands:

  • This job operates in an industrial, chemical and radiological plant environment. The job has the potential to occur during an active construction environment.
  • Some walking, bending, standing, lifting of loads up to 30 pounds and climbing stairs throughout the plant.

The employee must possess the physical ability necessary to perform nuclear materials work. This includes:

  • The ability to safety work in a changing environment.
  • The ability to wear appropriate PPE for assigned tasks.
  • Visual acuity necessary to inspect plant equipment for leaks and other visible flaws.

Job Details

  • Required to perform job duties at the UUSA site in Eunice, NM
  • Travel may be required less than 10% of the time
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy L clearance.
  • Emergency Response Organization (ERO) qualification is required
  • Potential environmental conditions include: general office environment, extreme cold or heat, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, plant/production environment, high, precarious places, low light, near moving mechanical parts, outdoors, radiation, risk of electrical shock, toxic or caustic chemicals, vibration, and wet or humid conditions (non-weather).

Primary Functions

  • Functions in the interests of the Design Authority while supporting construction activities and projects. This includes maintaining/ensuring design standards and design criteria, the UUSA Functional Specification, and processes for design and configuration control.
  • Apply basic to intermediate level engineering fundamentals and ensure design basis documents are kept current, controlled and configuration management is maintained.
  • Ensure design outputs are adequately reviewed and approved in accordance with procedures, regulations, codes, and license requirements.
  • Understanding of technical drawings and manuals for procedure use and continuing training.
  • Assist in the development of procedures for System Acceptance Testing and the commissioning of systems and groups of systems and ensuring that the two are aligned in scope and breadth
  • Evaluation of the initial plan for the Systems Testing and Commissioning Activities and Identify any reservations.
  • Engage the parties involved in the testing and commissioning activities to ensure its comprehensiveness.
  • Assist in the review of technical documents, test results and the Owner’s Turnover Package ensuring that they are ready for records.
  • Performance monitoring and testing oversight.
  • Understand the implementation processes to ensure system turnover in a timely manner.
  • Provide accurate and timely data for management assessment of turnover performance.
  • Interface with Commissioning & Acceptance Project Managers to ensure open communications between the installation of new modifications and/or construction and the Owner’s end result.
  • Coordinate with Commissioning & Acceptance team in the identification and resolution of issues concerning commissioning and acceptance of systems.
  • Conduct System Acceptance Test efforts and commissioning activities together with the Commissioning & Acceptance Project Managers.
  • Understand the basic system design capabilities and operation of the UUSA uranium enrichment process equipment and plant utility systems.
