Description:

We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to join our team in the Construction/Contractor industry based in Owings Mills, Maryland. The role involves managing critical financial tasks such as entering new customers into the accounting system, reviewing and verifying incoming accounts payable (AP), and setting up new vendors and jobs in the accounting system. This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  • Enter new customers into the accounting system with accuracy
  • Review all incoming AP for verification using purchase orders, statements, delivery tickets, and invoices before entering into the system
  • Enter all AP invoices in the accounting system in a timely and organized manner
  • Complete new vendors set up in the accounting system, including obtaining W-9s and 1099 filings
  • Complete the job set up process for new projects in the accounting system, including budgets and revenue
  • Follow up with customers on the status of payment and provide verification of payment as needed
  • Maintain vendor files as needed, ensuring all information is up-to-date
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls in a professional manner
  • Use Microsoft Excel and Construction Accounting software for various tasks
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the management team.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in Accounts Payable (AP)
  • Knowledge and experience in Construction Accounting
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Familiarity with accounting software and databases
  • Understanding of accounting principles and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is desirable
  • Prior experience in a similar role within the construction industry would be advantageous.
