JOB SUMMARY:

This position will be responsible for sales and volume growth of specialty products shipping from the Midwest throughout the U.S to retailers and equine distributors. Many of these shipments will ship UPS or Fedex so it will be critical this position works to combine items and shipments to optimize freight costs for customers.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Strong skills in building and maintaining relationships with clients to ensure long-term business partnerships.
  • Proficiency in analyzing market trends and customer needs to identify new sales opportunities.
  • In-depth knowledge of animal feed products to provide accurate information and recommendations to customers.
  • Excellent negotiation skills to close deals and secure the best terms for the company.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly convey information and persuade potential clients.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A valid driver’s license
  • 15% travel is required, with overnight travel on an occasional basis

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, agriculture or other related field
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Animal Agriculture, with experience working directly with customers, prior marketing experience preferred.
  • Background in the equine industry or are horse owner’s themselves is highly preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Prolonged periods of driving a vehicle
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities

Responsibilities:

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain relationships, following up on customer questions, handle end user complaints and build new relationships for the company.
  • Support the Alltech marketing team with support of marketing programs and social media sites related to equine products.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to resolve issues and build a stronger team.
  • Making an impact by developing improved processes from the ground up.
  • Managing sales in a territory, retaining existing accounts, and implementing sales strategies to develop new business.
  • Practicing good customer service procedures, providing strong support after a sale to ensure complete customer satisfaction, and communicating effectively with customers.
  • Handling administration tasks such as weekly call reports, monthly reports, processing expenses, and managing company resources.
  • Actively participating in the feed industry through trade shows, seminars, understanding market trends, and being familiar with competitors.
