  • Basic knowledge of accounting/AAT/or willingness to learn

Responsibilities:

ROLE OVERVIEW:

Working within the council’s Capital & Treasury Finance Team, the Accountancy Assistant will be responsible for;

  • Accurate and timely allocation of all unallocated cash to support the whole business.
  • Assist internal employees and customers with account enquiries and provide suppliers with copy remittances.
  • Upload bank statements and payment breakdowns, keeping information reconciled.
  • Clearing of suspense items
  • Daily processing supplier/resident BACS payments
  • To assist Accountant and Senior Accountant in the daily Treasury Management Function and other Capital Team tasks

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately apply customer payments to their respective accounts and invoices.
  • Process incoming bank receipts efficiently and in accordance with company procedures
  • Use of various IT systems including the Councils finance system and other relating systems as well as Banking systems
  • Working with high volumes of data in a safe and secure manner.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to cash allocation
