About Man Group’s Finance Department
Man Group’s Finance department models, analyses and reports financial information to the following:
- The business and group board (to aid better decision making).
- The company’s equity and debt holders (to meet their requirements for investing in the company)
- Regulators (to fully comply with regulatory rules and requirements).

What Will I Do on the Accountancy & Tax Graduate Programme?
This graduate programme provides a unique opportunity to gain challenging and interesting experience within a performance-driven, global active investment management business by rotating through three or four placements within Finance over a two-year period.
As one of our graduates, you will gain a thorough understanding of a range of financial disciplines, such as accounting, controlling, and tax, and be given exposure to different teams and business areas. Having completed the programme, you will be well-placed to develop a long-term career in the finance department at Man Group with an expectation that you would be capable of progressing into a leadership role. Both professional studies (e.g., ACA, ACCA) and on-the-job training will be provided to enable you to contribute to the business. You will also have direct access to Man Group’s leadership team as a senior leader from Finance will be provided to each graduate to act as a mentor.
Job Profile Summary
The rotational nature of the role will mean specific responsibilities will vary from team to
team. In all areas it is expected that the individual will:
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the business, its environment, and products.
- Assist the team in the execution of their duties.
- Play an active role in the team.
Specific Responsibilities
- Analyse and integrate financial data.
- Preparation of external reporting documents and schedules (statutory financial statements, regulatory returns, for example).
- Preparation of internal management information (budget vs actuals, AUM and margins, for example).
- Monitor, analyse, and review financial data.
- Maintenance of finance reference data, including general ledger bookkeeping.
- Participation in corporate and fund tax compliance and advisory services.
- Support the annual budget process.
- Provide support and challenge to the wider business.
- Participation in ad-hoc projects as they arise.
- Interaction with internal and external auditors as required.
Key Skills & Experience
- Achieved or on-track to achieve a minimum 2:1 degree in a numeracy-based degree or a degree that contains at least one numeracy module.
- Computer literate with MS office competency and can learn new systems.
- Analytical, logical thinker with an eye for detail and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to understand risk factors.
- Possess a strong desire to learn with the self-motivation to study and complete a professional accounting qualification alongside a full-time employment.
- Interest: A demonstratable interest in financial accounting, reporting, compliance and controls.
