POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the COO, the Accountant/Controller is responsible for performing various financial and accounting duties to support the company’s operations, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, controlling the company’s cash flow, and managing our AR/AP/Payroll Clerk.
A fundamental part of this role includes ensuring that we have enough cash to finance new growth initiatives and product launches, negotiating payment terms with existing suppliers, performing month-end processes, and communicating with the CRA.
This position requires knowledge of full-cycle accounting, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (if this list looks exciting to you, click Apply Now):
- Managing the company’s day-to-day financials, including our AR/AP/Payroll Clerk.
- Ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses in compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Preparing variance analyses (actual vs. budget) and coordinating investigation and resolution into discrepancies with appropriate department managers.
- Monitoring cash flow, financial performance, and key performance indicators, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Creating budgets, forecasts, and financial models to guide the decision making process.
- Implementing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Providing strategic financial insights to executive leadership, contributing to business planning and growth strategies.
- Assist auditors by providing necessary documentation and explanations during financial audits.
- Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring adherence to tax laws and regulations.
- Monthly entry of bank accounts & CC transactions.
- Monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, CCs and LoC.
- Perform accurate and detailed quarterly inventory reconciliations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Professional accounting designation such as a CPA is required.
- 4+ years of accounting experience, including financial reporting, modelling, and analysis.
- 3+ years of Quickbooks Online experience.
- Strong proficiency in Excel (VBA and Macros knowledge is a plus).
- Knowledge of ASPE and IFRS is an advantage.
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and formal presentation skills.
- Self-starter that takes initiative, makes decisions, and provides clear direction to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to identify and adapt to changing business needs.
