Description:
This pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing general accounting functions, including maintaining general and subsidiary ledgers, preparing journal entries, and conducting balance sheet reconciliations. You will also play a key role in supporting the Financial Controller with monthly and annual closings, ensuring adherence to reporting deadlines, and maintaining statutory compliance with state and federal taxes.
Responsibilities:
As a General Accountant, you will:
- Prepare journal entries for payroll, bank, accruals, prepayments, AR/AP, inventory, projects, and general postings.
- Maintain general ledger operations to ensure the production of accurate and complete financial statements.
- Reconcile and maintain balance sheet, revenue, and expense accounts, including conducting bank reconciliations and investigating discrepancies or anomalies.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closings.
- Prepare monthly financial reports as requested.
- Review and complete project costings on service jobs and analyze variances.
- Calculate and prepare tax computations and returns for payroll tax, BAS/GST, income tax, FBT, statutory payroll deductions, and other taxes.
- Prepare Workcover, insurance, and other statutory and operational returns as needed.
- Calculate employee liabilities and maintain the fixed asset register.
- Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts.
- Review and process expense reports.
- Support the preparation and coordination of the audit process.
- Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.
- Perform other reasonable duties as required.
