Accountant, Principal

We are offering a contract-to-hire opportunity for a Principal Accountant based in Rosharon, Texas. This role is positioned within the oil and gas industry and will primarily focus on leading a special project aimed at reconciling revenue cash receipts and outstanding accounts receivable. The workplace is highly collaborative, requiring the accountant to work closely with the revenue team and project controllers.

• Analyzing and developing accounting policies based on GAAP and business practices.
• Ensuring the accounting treatment accurately reflects the economic substance of business transactions.
• Reviewing changes in technical accounting literature and presenting developed positions to management.
• Analyzing proposed transactions for structure and proper accounting treatment under authoritative accounting literature.
• Leading special projects and providing guidance and direction to other team members.
• Ensuring consistent application of accounting policies.
• Staying informed about accounting issues being considered by regulatory bodies and advising management of important matters.
• Ensuring the adoption of accounting principles and reflecting the effects of conditions in the selection/retention of accounting policies.
• Processing customer credit applications and maintaining accurate customer credit records.
• Monitoring customer accounts and taking appropriate action based on the account status.
• Proficiency in General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP Accounting)
• Capable of delivering accurate and timely account reconciliations
• Proven ability to handle cash activity and manage accounts receivable (AR)
• Demonstrated skills in reviewing financial documents and procedures
• Experience with revenue accounting and balance sheet account management
• Ability to lead and manage special projects
• Proficient in executing validation plans
• Experience with supplier management, receipt handling, and onboarding processes
• Ability to work onsite and handle expense accounts
• Strong knowledge in business unit operations
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred
• Experience with staffing and ability to adhere to best practices in accounting
• Excellent documentation skills
• Ability to manage commission functions and other deliverables.
