Description:

Overview:
The Accountant reports directly to the European AP lead and will be based in Waterford, Ireland. The Accountant will be responsible for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, VAT returns, Payroll and General Accounting within the European Shared Services. Additionally the Accountant will be highly involved in the monthly close activities. This is a hands-on position working directly with all members of the European Shared Services as well as cross-functionally within the local entity and the global organization. Doing this the Accountant will collaborate with different divisions across Europe to implement process improvements. The Accountant works closely with Sales, Customer Service, Warehouse, Purchasing, Operations and other parts of the organization.
Responsibilities:

As accountant you will be responsible for the following:

  • Accounts Payable: vendor invoice and payment processing with focus on automation
  • Travel & Expense reporting
  • Manage supplier down payments and the respective reconciliation
  • General accounting tasks e.g. process postings (petty cash etc.)
  • Keep track of lease commitments in Europe
  • Prepare the payroll as well as register service employees for social security on governmental websites Europe-wide (A1 etc.)
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close process including the preparation of journal entries, reclassifications, account reconciliations, accruals, lease and reserve calculations and intercompany transactions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements
  • Ensure compliance with audit requirements and address inquiries from auditors
  • Implement best practices to increase the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting
  • Ensure proper recording of financial transactions and alignment with other Repligen sites
  • Conduct regular assessments to ensure adherence to SOX compliance standards
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of all tax-related documents as well as statistics
  • Support the Accounts Receivable Team including customer invoicing, customer correspondence, recovering outstanding claims, reserves, cash entries etc.

Qualifications:

The successful Accountant meets the following requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance with 2-4 years of accounting experience required
  • Proficient in advanced Excel functions required
  • SAP experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX is a plus
  • Prior experience with manufacturing companies desired
  • Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Willing to work in an international team
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, problem solving, and results
