Description:
DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Technician to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, assisting with the preparation of financial reports, and other finance related administrative tasks. If you have a strong background in accounting and a passion for numbers, we’d love to hear from you!
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in bookkeeping and record keeping on computerized systems
- Understanding of trial balances, general ledger and financial statement closing processes
- Backend experience, including database design and management
- 3 years’ experience in accounting-related functions
- Fully bilingual in French and professional/business English, because this job requires interaction with suppliers and government agencies in both languages
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE IN ONE OF THE FOLLOWING AREAS IS A MAJOR ASSET:
- ERP systems experience
- Automotive industry accounting practices

Responsibilities:
- Maintain, monitor and reconcile GL accounts, including but not limited to cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable and accrued liabilities
- Identify problems and errors, investigate discrepancies and discuss with controller
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Prepare and maintain government remittances/deposits, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable and payroll transactions
- Set up files, assist in the completion of budgets and complete administrative planning and other aspects of accounting work
- Prepare payments to suppliers for approval
- Perform month-end and quarter-end closing process
- Communicate with governments regarding information requests, assessments and payments
- Work with accounting software and provide support to other departments
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
- Other related tasks
