POSITION SUMMARY:

The Accounting Assistant is part of the entity accounting team, reporting to the Accounting Manager. This position is responsible for training such tasks as month end close, journal entries, performing basic account reconciliations, etc. Intern may be assigned month end close accountability for certain entities with low transaction volume. This position will also train on and take responsibility for some transactional activity, as needed. The position is also responsible for providing administrative support as needed. Training and mentorship will be provided by an accounting manager.
This part time role is expected to work between 15-20 hours per week for 9-12 months. Theres an opportunity for this part-time role to evolve into a full-time role depending on performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Studying Accounting with interest in an accounting career preferred
  • CPA track preferred
  • Entering Senior year or Masters program preferred OR already completed Core Accounting classes (Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting)
  • High level of customer service and teamwork skills required
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred, experience in accounting software such as Yardi preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a rapidly changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment
  • This internship will operate on a hybrid schedule with 50% of hours required to be in-person

Responsibilities:

  • Provide back up and support for the accounting department including:
  • Preparation of month end close support workbook
  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations
  • General Ledger Entries
  • Update 24 month rolling forecast for certain entities
  • Assist with account reconciliations, perform research and provide on-going assistance to accounting department
  • Support and enforce all related internal controls and processing policies
  • Provide general administrative support for the accounting department as needed
  • Team Policies, Procedures and Coverage:
  • Work as a team to ensure adequate coverage is in place to provide maximum benefits to our customers and other team members
  • Continuously perform duties within compliance of companys internal control policies and procedures
