Accounting Assistant

We are offering an opportunity for an Accounting Assistant to join our team in a non-profit organization located in Visalia, California. This role is pivotal in supporting the finance team in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies. Tasks will include processing accounts payable and receivable transactions, reconciling bank statements, and assisting with the preparation of financial reports.

• Process accounts payable and receivable transactions in a timely and accurate manner
• Reconcile bank statements to maintain accurate financial records
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports to support financial transparency and accountability
• Support in the month-end and year-end financial close processes, including preparing journal entries and supporting schedules
• Maintain organized records for audit purposes and grant reporting, demonstrating accuracy in data entry and financial documentation
• Collaborate with other departments and external vendors to resolve accounting discrepancies and inquiries
• Provide financial information and support to program managers and executive leadership, showcasing strong communication skills in both written and verbal forms
• Leverage proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel to efficiently perform accounting functions
• Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) and perform billing functions
• Handle cash activity, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and reconciled.

This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity and is centered around the use of various skills including Accounting Software Systems, ADP - Financial Services, Great Plains (GPAC), Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office Suites, Accounting Functions, Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Billing Functions, and Cash Activity.

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suites.
• Skilled in performing Accounting Functions.
• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is necessary.
• Comfortable with Billing Functions and handling Cash Activity.
• Must be able to work in a team and collaborate effectively.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Detail-oriented and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Possess a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is preferred.
• Previous experience in a non-profit organization is a plus.
