POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are looking for a motivated Accounting Associate, who thrives in a dynamic, hands on, small team environment and fosters our culture of collaboration and getting things done. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the successful candidate will play a critical role in the Finance department by supporting critical month-end functions, and have a detail-oriented approach to financial analysis & reviews, while leveraging our existing systems & applications to drive process improvement and data integrity.
This is an on-site role based in Kitchener, Ontario
REQUIREMENTS:
- Post-secondary Degree completion in a financial discipline
- Working towards completion of a CPA designation
- Previous Co-op experience is an asset, but not required
- Successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements that may include criminal/civil background checks
Responsibilities:
- Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard vs. actual production costs, while being able to explain drivers of key variances.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate product, service, and software plan costing, while supporting costing for new or revised product offerings.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with Supply Chain & Operations departments in order to support inventory reduction, forecasting, and ERP data integrity.
- Support the monthly preparation and review of Financial Statements, including processing of standard & adjusting journal entries, and proactively identifying variances & performing root cause analysis.
- Monthly account reconciliations - completing complex reconciliations as well as acting as first level review for certain account reconciliations; while preparing accruals and reclass entries as needed
- Maintain fixed assets subledgers on a monthly basis, including proper documentation of additions, disposals, & re-classifications.
- Maintain deferred revenue schedules on a monthly basis, in alignment with ASPE guidelines and reconciled to Avidbots’ internal records.
- Assist in development of efficient accounting and finance procedures and use of resources, while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Utilize existing finance systems & applications to streamline processes and improve internal controls while proactively suggesting improvements.
- Assist in annual audit by preparing working papers and assisting auditors with data collection
