Description:
POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Accounting Clerk to support our accounting department with day-to-day financial operations. The ideal candidate will be proficient in managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with legal and financial regulations. This role is crucial to maintaining the financial health and efficiency of our firm. Experience in legal trust accounting is preferred but not required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as an Accounting Clerk or in a similar role, preferably in a law office or professional services environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suites (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint) and Adobe.
- Knowledge in Cosmolex Practice Management and Accounting software and Law Labs Closer software is preferred but not required for consideration.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Process and record accounts payable and receivable transactions.
- Reconcile bank statements and perform monthly account reconciliations.
- Prepare and process invoices, expense reports, and payment requests.
- Assist with payroll processing and related documentation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and files.
- Support the preparation of financial reports and statements.
- Manage petty cash and perform cash handling duties.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Ensure compliance with legal and firm-specific accounting practices and standards.
- Provide administrative support to the finance department as needed.
